Connecting You to
the Soul of the Bahamas

Beyond The Flats bridges world-class exploration with local empowerment. We support sustainable tourism, marine conservation, and smart digital access across the islands.

Our Purpose

Our Mission & Vision

Beyond The Flats was created to connect visitors with the people, places, and coastal experiences that define The Bahamas. Our mission is to support tourism, conservation, local communities, and modern visitor access throughout the islands.

Who We Are

Charles Johnson is a licensed Bahamian fly fishing guide and founder of Beyond The Flats, operating under the @islandbeyfly brand on Nassau south side flats. Selected as a finalist and first runner-up in the UN Tourism Bahamas Sustainable Islands Challenge April 2026, personally recognised by UN Tourism Executive Director Natalia Bayona.

How We Get Permit

How We Facilitate Permits

We understand that navigating local regulations can be complex, which is why we have streamlined the process:

Simplified Access

We make essential fishing permits simple and accessible for every angler, removing administrative barriers to your adventure.

Digital Integration

Our smart QR-powered network allows you to obtain necessary permits and information instantly at airports, marinas, and lodges—no app required.

Regulatory Compliance

By centralizing the permit process, we ensure that every angler is properly registered, which directly supports the conservation and management of our flats.

Direct Impact

We connect tourism dollars directly to local communities and conservation efforts, ensuring your visit contributes to the long-term sustainability of The Bahamas.

We're Commited

Our Commitment to Excellence

We support, educate and build visitor experienced network

Empowering Local Expertise

We act as a dedicated partner to certified Bahamian guides and local operators. By providing them with greater visibility and digital tools, we ensure that every visitor gains an authentic, expert-led experience that honors the true character of our islands.

Advocating for Marine Stewardship

Our commitment goes beyond tourism; it is about preservation. We actively educate visitors on critical marine conservation and flats etiquette, ensuring that our fragile coastal ecosystems are respected and protected for generations to come.

Pioneering Smart Visitor Connectivity

We are transforming the Bahamian travel experience through our smart, QR-powered visitor network. By bridging the gap between traditional island life and modern digital access, we make essential information, permits, and coastal maps available instantly at airports, marinas, and lodges.
